William Blake's contrast among innocence and experience is usually apparent in another book, apart from those that happen to be named correspondingly, that was produced in 1789, The Publication of Thel. Thel is a maiden whom resides inside the Vales of Har, which usually seems corresponding to the sheltered state of peace and innocence in the Songs of Innocence. Feeling unfulfilled and useless, Thel is invited to believe an embodied life by simply Clay. In doing so , she's exposed to the foreign world of sexuality and experience. This revelation terrifies her tremendously and she flees back to the safe, familiar Vales of Har, not to be enlightened.

Thel's motto can be comprised of concerns that all have fairly obvious answers, but non-etheless get away her. Thel is a first who laments the passing of youngsters and of purity: " To life on this our early spring! why ends the that lotus of the normal water, " Why fade these children with the spring, created but to laugh & fall" (1. 6-7)? Thel queries elements of characteristics, like the Lilly of the Valley and the Impair, that are beautiful but have momentary lives. However each understands that the transitory nature of beauty is necessary. The Impair answers Thel's complaint simply by saying that " every thing that lives, Lives not alone, nor for itself" (3. 26-27). Thel is usually innocent, when one is caught in a condition of chasteness there can be zero growth.

The girl compares very little to " a watry bow, and like a parting cloud" (1. 8) " Like a representation in a cup, like dark areas in the water" (1. 9). These are almost all transparent points and things that fade away. Thel feels she their self could disappear without much recognize or repercussion.
